The promotion, which ran briefly in November 2023, was conducted in partnership with Free Spins Loops, owned by Digital Adventures. The offer appeared automatically with online orders, promising free casino spins with "no deposit required."

The issue gained attention when recovering gambling addict Ben Jones (@ExGambler4Life) highlighted the promotion on X. Jones, who served three years in prison for embezzling £370,000 due to gambling addiction, expressed concern about the lack of safeguards in the promotional campaign.

Digital Adventures confirmed the promotion was quickly removed on November 28, following public backlash. However, they declined to disclose whether Pizza Hut received a share of customer losses from the promotion.

Iain Duncan Smith MP, former Conservative Party chairman and head of a parliamentary group on gambling harm, criticized the promotion as evidence of "out of control gambling advertising." He called for stricter regulations on gambling promotions.

Similar marketing partnerships have been observed in the US, where Pizza Hut customers reported receiving unsolicited signup offers for betting platforms like BetMGM and FanDuel, including promotions for first-bet offers up to $1,000.
