Nevada Casinos Hit All-Time Slot Revenue Record Despite Overall October Decline
Nevada casinos achieved a record-breaking slot machine revenue in October, despite an overall decline in gaming revenue. Slot machines at the state's 315 licensed facilities generated $932.3 million, marking a 4.2% increase from October 2023.
However, total gaming revenue dropped 2% to $1.286 billion compared to the previous year, marking the 44th consecutive month exceeding $1 billion. This decline was primarily due to:
- Table games and sports betting revenue fell 16%
- Baccarat revenue decreased 23% to $69.1 million
- Sportsbook revenue dropped 58% to $28.9 million
- Las Vegas Strip revenue declined 3% to $692 million

Some positive performance indicators include:
- Blackjack revenue increased 2% to $116.3 million
- Craps revenue rose 3% to $41.5 million
- Slot machine play volume increased 3.6%
Visitor statistics showed:
- Overall visitation decreased 1.8% to 3.56 million people
- Convention attendance dropped 13% to 559,000
- Airport traffic declined 3.5% to 5.3 million passengers
Through October 2024, Nevada's total gaming revenue reached $12.82 billion. To achieve a fourth consecutive year of record revenue, the state needs to generate $2.7 billion in November and December combined.
This slowdown in brick-and-mortar gaming revenue isn't unique to Nevada, with similar trends observed in other major gaming states including Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
