Resort fees supposedly cover amenities like Wi-Fi, gym access, and local phone calls. However, these fees primarily exist to help hotels maintain competitive rates on travel websites while generating additional revenue. The fees typically aren't displayed until the final booking stage.
This marks MGM's second resort fee increase in 2023, following an earlier hike in January. The Biden administration has stated it's working to eliminate such "junk fees" from the travel industry.
