Atlantic City is set to welcome a Monopoly-inspired boutique hotel, paying homage to the iconic board game that borrowed its street names from this historic casino town.

RMS Capital, a New Jersey real estate developer, announced plans to break ground in 2025 on "The Top Hat at The Orange Loop." The three-story structure will feature distinctive design elements from the classic board game, including a top hat crown and a protruding racecar façade.

The boutique hotel will be located on Tennessee Avenue, featuring six bedrooms and 1,400 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. While the hotel won't include gaming facilities, it will join The Orange Loop district's diverse offerings of restaurants, entertainment venues, and local businesses.

Mark Callazzo, RMS Capital's managing partner, describes the project as "a game changer for Atlantic City" that will serve as a landmark for both residents and visitors, supporting local business growth and tourism.

The project's location holds historical significance as Atlantic City provided 21 of the 22 street names featured in the original Monopoly game, published in 1935. The game's creation is linked to local Quakers, including Charles Darrow, who designed his version using Atlantic City streets.

The hotel represents part of Atlantic City's ongoing diversification beyond gambling, offering unique accommodation options while celebrating the city's connection to one of the world's most famous board games.
