The PWHL has demonstrated impressive growth since its launch in January 2023, with the inaugural game attracting 2.9 million viewers across Canadian national television. The league set a women's hockey attendance record when 19,285 fans attended the "Battle on Bay Street" between Toronto and Montreal at Scotiabank Arena on March 3.

The league consists of six teams:

  • Boston Fleet
  • Minnesota Frost
  • Montreal Victoire
  • New York Sirens
  • Ottawa Charge
  • Toronto Sceptres

Through this partnership, FanDuel will offer expanded betting options including:

  • Player prop bets
  • Novelty markets
  • Same Game Parlays
  • Expansion-related markets in Ontario

Dale Hooper, General Manager of FanDuel, emphasized that this partnership aims to create a new era of fan engagement while growing the visibility of women's professional sports.

The timing aligns with growing support for women's sports and the upcoming Winter Olympics. Industry experts note this partnership could help target the growing female sports betting demographic while providing valuable marketing opportunities, especially if the women's team secures another Olympic gold medal.

The PWHL has already secured partnerships with major brands including Scotiabank, Air Canada, Barbie, Bauer, Tim Hortons, and several others, demonstrating strong corporate support for women's professional hockey.

The new PWHL season begins tomorrow, featuring the Sceptres hosting the Fleet and the Victoire hosting the Charge, with expansion discussions already underway for the 2025-2026 season.
