The Cowlitz County Coroner's Office confirmed that Shinaver's body was discovered on December 7 in his submerged truck in Woodland, Washington, approximately 30 miles north of Portland. The coroner determined the cause of death as accidental drowning, verified through dental records.
A tow truck driver inadvertently found Shinaver's black 1993 Ford Ranger while searching for a different vehicle off Dike Road in Woodland. The location was about six miles from the ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield, where Shinaver was last seen on April 30, 2021.
At the time of his disappearance, Shinaver was described as six feet tall, 155 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a yellow long-sleeve work shirt, Carhartt jeans, and boots. The St. Helens Police Department had been investigating the case since his disappearance.
The exact circumstances that led to Shinaver's truck entering the water remain unclear. He appears to have been alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
