Texas Woman Arrested After $5M Lottery Win Suspected of Theft and Fraud
A Hearne, Texas woman faces serious charges after allegedly obtaining a $5 million lottery prize fraudulently. Arthurica Jackson, who claimed the jackpot from a $50 "Luxe" scratch-off game on November 5, was arrested last week following an investigation by Hearne police and state lottery officials.

Jackson, reportedly an employee at QuickPump store where the winning ticket was sold, faces charges of lottery fraud exceeding $10,000 and theft of property exceeding $300,000. She was taken to Robertson County Jail but has since posted the $300,000 bond ($150,000 for each charge) and awaits a court hearing.
While specific details remain under investigation, this case highlights a known scheme where dishonest store clerks may deceive customers about winning tickets. Clerks can check if a ticket is a winner by scanning the barcode, potentially allowing them to falsely claim tickets as losing ones and keep them for themselves.
In a similar case from Tennessee, gas station attendant Meet Patel attempted to claim a $1 million prize after allegedly deceiving a customer. Security footage showed Patel checking two winning tickets for a customer, returning only a $40 winner while discarding the million-dollar ticket in the trash, only to retrieve it later for himself.
