Key Findings:
- Projected annual gross gaming revenue: $93.4 million to $138.4 million
- Potential annual tax revenue at 20% rate: $18.6 million to $27.6 million
- Minimal negative impact expected on existing casino operations
- Wyoming currently has legal online sports betting with five operators and three Native American casinos
The study analyzed data from eight states with legalized iGaming, focusing particularly on West Virginia, which has a similar gaming structure to Wyoming. Evidence shows that iGaming revenue has been "accretive rather than cannibalistic" to existing casino and distributed gaming sectors.
Additional Recommendations:
- Raise legal gambling age to 21 for historical horse racing and online sports betting
- Maintain consistency with skill-based amusement game requirements
- Consider tax rates between 15% (West Virginia model) and 54% (Pennsylvania model)
The report suggests Wyoming's existing gaming market would remain stable while benefiting from additional revenue streams through iGaming legalization, similar to other states that have implemented online gaming options.
