The Mega Millions jackpot has reached an estimated $944 million for the Christmas Eve drawing, potentially becoming the largest December lottery prize in U.S. history. The cash option stands at $429.4 million.
The jackpot has been rolling over since September 10, when a Texas ticket claimed an $810 million prize. This current prize represents the seventh-largest in Mega Millions history.

In the most recent drawing on December 20, the winning numbers were 2, 20, 51, 56, 67, and Mega Ball 19. While no one won the jackpot, five tickets matched all five white balls for $1 million each. Additionally, 48 tickets won $10,000 by matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball.
Starting April 2025, Mega Millions will implement significant changes:
- Ticket price increases from $2 to $5
- Megaplier automatically included
- Same odds remain (1 in 302,575,350)
- No more break-even outcomes
Meanwhile, an unclaimed $1.128 billion winning ticket sold in Neptune, N.J., in March 2024 remains outstanding. The winner has until March 26, 2025, to claim this fifth-largest prize in Mega Millions history.
The next drawing takes place Tuesday, December 24, at 11 p.m. EST at the Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
