Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol is set to replace its temporary casino facility with a permanent $515 million integrated resort on November 14, 2023. The temporary casino, which operated in the former Bristol Mall since July 2022, closed early Monday morning after generating approximately $145 million in gaming revenue last year.

The new 620,000-square-foot resort features:

  • 1,500 slot machines
  • 50 live dealer table games
  • Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook
  • 303 hotel rooms
  • 2,000-seat concert venue
  • Multiple dining options including Council Oak Steak & Seafood
  • Hard Rock Shop
  • Hard Rock Café (coming soon)

Country music star Blake Shelton will headline the grand opening celebration. Hotel operations begin Friday, November 15, with room rates starting at $599 for opening night, including taxes and resort fees, before normalizing to $159 in subsequent weeks.

The project, developed by Hard Rock International in partnership with local businessmen Jim McGlothlin and Clyde Stacy, represents a significant economic boost for Bristol, Virginia, where the median household income ($45,250) is roughly half the state average. The resort has already created over 1,000 jobs and continues to hire additional staff.

Existing Unity by Hard Rock rewards program members will have their points automatically transferred to the new facility. The casino expansion is part of Virginia's 2020 gaming legislation, which allows casino development in economically challenged cities to stimulate growth and generate tax revenue.
