A historic Nevada brothel, Dennis Hof's Love Ranch, located 80 miles outside Las Vegas in Nye County, was demolished last week. The establishment, which operated legally under Nevada state law, was known for its pink-painted complex of 15 one-bedroom suites, complete with a bar, two kitchens, and a VIP room.

Hof purchased the property in 2010, already famous from HBO's "Cathouse" series. The brothel operated as a licensed facility where workers split their income with the house and paid a 9% state tax. Nevada's legal brothels generate approximately $75 million in annual revenue.

The establishment gained national attention in 2015 when NBA star Lamar Odom overdosed in its VIP room, suffering multiple strokes and heart attacks during his recovery. The incident, combined with Odom's marriage to Khloe Kardashian, thrust the Love Ranch into mainstream media spotlight.

Hof died in October 2018 at age 72 in the same bedroom where Odom's incident occurred. Remarkably, he won a seat in the Nevada Assembly posthumously, running as the self-styled "Trump from Pahrump."

The brothel closed permanently after Hof's death and was sold in late 2022 to Dallas resident Jan Jensen, founder of the Jensen Project, an anti-sexual violence nonprofit. Jensen ordered the demolition to erase all traces of the establishment's history, according to former staff members.
