Karruah Parkinson was critically wounded when fellow players allegedly followed him out of the venue and opened fire after he had left them poker chips as tips. According to his attorney Okoye Morgan, Parkinson attempted to find security during the incident but found no officers present.

Police discovered Parkinson in his bullet-riddled vehicle and rushed him to HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. He continues to suffer severe pain from stomach and arm injuries, with bullets having narrowly missed his vital organs. The incident has left him with both physical and psychological trauma.

The lawsuit claims Bestbet failed to provide adequate security to protect its patrons. While Orange Park police have not made any arrests, they are investigating three suspects. Bestbet declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.

This incident follows another armed robbery at the same venue in February 2024, where a player was robbed at gunpoint of $7,000 from his $20,000 winnings. Police later arrested 21-year-old Sean Evans after he dropped his phone while fleeing the scene.
