Donald Trump Eyes Casino Project in Greenland, Claims Former National Security Advisor Bolton
Donald Trump's reported interest in developing Greenland extends beyond geopolitical strategy to potentially include casino development, according to former National Security Advisor John Bolton.
In a recent interview with The Free Press, Bolton suggested Trump envisions building "Trump Nuuk" - a casino and tower complex in Greenland's capital city, alongside his broader ambitions to acquire the territory from Denmark.

Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in acquiring Greenland since 2019, recently stating: "For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity."
Bolton acknowledges Greenland's strategic importance, citing its:
- Historical significance since WWII
- Connection to U.S. security interests
- Location as part of the North American landmass
- Current home to Pituffik Space Base (formerly Thule Air Force Base)
While serving as National Security Advisor, Bolton explored preliminary acquisition options, but efforts were hampered by Trump's public statements on the matter. Bolton suggests any future attempts would require discrete negotiations rather than public discourse, particularly after previous tensions with Danish leadership.
Trump's interest in territorial expansion extends beyond Greenland, with recent suggestions about reacquiring the Panama Canal and incorporating Canada into the United States. When questioned about the seriousness of these proposals, Bolton responded, "Well, who knows with Trump what's serious and what's not?"
