The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match has shattered betting records across multiple sportsbooks, becoming the most wagered-on combat sports event in history.

BetMGM reported unprecedented numbers, with the fight generating three times more bets and four times greater handle than any previous combat event. The majority of bettors favored Tyson, who entered as a +180 underdog and attracted 67% of tickets and 53% of the handle.

DraftKings saw record-breaking action, with 3.5 times more bets and handle compared to their previous record holder, the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight. Popular prop bets included Tyson to win by KO/TKO/DQ, Paul to win by KO/TKO/DQ, and Tyson to win in Round 1.

BetRivers reported that the bout generated more money than their next four most wagered-on boxing matches of 2024 combined. At 888 Sport, the fight saw particularly strong betting activity in Canada and the UK, with most wagers placed on bout betting and method of victory markets.

The fight, broadcast on Netflix, ended with Paul, 27, defeating the 58-year-old Tyson in an eight-round unanimous decision. Tyson reportedly earned $20 million for the bout, while Paul took home $40 million.

Caesars Sportsbook's Vice President of Trading, Craig Mucklow, compared the handle to that of an NFL Monday Night game, noting the fight's unique appeal across generations. However, Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy criticized the event as a marketing ploy, particularly questioning those who believed the aging Tyson had a realistic chance of winning.
