The 122nd U.S. Open Championship returns to The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts for the first time since 1988. The tournament runs June 16-19, 2022, featuring 156 players competing in individual stroke play.

The Country Club, established in 1882, is one of America's oldest courses and a founding member of the USGA. The tournament layout combines holes from the 27-hole property to create a challenging 7,200-yard par-70 course with tree-lined fairways and small greens.

Defending champion Jon Rahm (+1100) enters as the betting favorite after his dramatic victory in 2021, where he birdied the final two holes to win by one shot over Louis Oosthuizen. Other top contenders include:

  • Scottie Scheffler (+1200) - World #1 and 2022 Masters champion
  • Justin Thomas (+1200) - Fresh off PGA Championship victory
  • Cameron Smith (+1600)
  • Xander Schauffele (+1600)
  • Dustin Johnson (+1600) - 2016 U.S. Open champion
  • Brooks Koepka (+1800) - Two-time U.S. Open winner

Notable past champions in the field include Jordan Spieth (+2000), Bryson DeChambeau (+3300), and Gary Woodland (+8000).

The field consists of 91 exempt players and additional qualifiers from local and final qualifying stages worldwide. The USGA confirmed that LIV Golf participants remain eligible to compete despite their PGA Tour status.
